Sandberg has introduced a new product to the market – the Sandberg USB Multi Hard Disk Link – which not only gives new life to old computer parts but also is a bit of a Swiss Army Knife and ideal for a computer technician to keep in their drawer.

Development in the computer sector is very fast and this has been the case for many years. In order to keep up, you will need to replace your computer at regular intervals or at least upgrade it. This is why private people and companies often have lots of old computers laying around. Or they will have thrown most of them out and just kept a few small parts. There could also be a CD drive that has been swapped for a DVD drive or a hard disk that has been swapped for a larger and faster one. The old, replaced spare parts then just sit gathering dust even if there is nothing wrong with them – they are just not up to the daily work.

Such parts can be reused for occasional tasks with the new Multi Link from Sandberg. It may be a hard disk that can be used for backups. When you only need data backup you don't need as much capacity and the speed is not as important for a backup hard disk. It may also be a slow DVD drive or CD drive that is gathering dust in the drawer. Either of these can be used cleverly on a laptop without an optical drive when you have to install new software or a driver a couple of times a year.

This new product from Sandberg makes it possible to connect all 2.5" and 3.5" hard disks (IDE and SATA) externally in a matter of seconds. It can also be used for all types of optical drives. Backup software that makes it easy to synchronise your backups is included. On the device itself there is a backup button that can activate the software. You can also have two hard disks connected at the same time and get access to both of them on the computer.

Erling Hoff Petersen, Sales Director at Sandberg A/S explains some of the many options: "Imagine a computer workshop. The Multi Hard Disk Link can be used here for things like troubleshooting and for data transfer when customers are upgrading. It is a proper troubleshooter in many cases where you can quickly make an external connection instead of installing hard disks and optical drives into the workshop's own computers or create multidisk setups in the customer's computer in order to transfer data. This is just much more simple and faster too – as well as allowing the workshop to offer an even better service to their customers."
