More and more homes now have a computer next to the TV. It might be a PlayStation 3, media centre PC or "just" a laptop. Common to them all is that they lack a keyboard and mouse for web browsing, chatting, menus and fields in addition to the various remote controls. Sandberg now has a highly elegant solution in the form of the "Sandberg Touchpad Keyboard". It is attractive, with masses of shortcut keys, and has many other special features.
Anders Petersen, Product Manager at Sandberg A/S, explains:
"We have thought through the entire usage scenario. When you are only using the touchpad you lean back on the sofa. Therefore the touchpad is on the right and the mouse buttons are on the left, so all the mouse functionality can be controlled using your thumbs. However, if you are typing, you'll typically lean forward and rest the keyboard on your lap. Therefore you can perform left and right clicks and scroll with various finger combinations on the touchpad and keep your left hand on the QWERTY keys. At the same time we have chosen a "smiling" keyboard layout, which provides better ergonomic comfort when the keyboard is so close to your body. We use a radio-based wireless connection instead of infrared. This means that you can position the receiver behind your media centre instead of it sitting in the way. The location of all the function keys has also been carefully considered, and NO, even though the big green media centre button is next to the space bar, you never actually hit it by accident. You have to try it to believe it if you only look at the pictures. But it works as designed. The Sandberg Touchpad Keyboard is a really well designed product that we are very proud of." Even if the price is very low, the quality is very high and this is underlined by a five-year warranty, which is amazing for a keyboard. A USB receiver and batteries are included in the price.
