Sandberg has launched a pair of compact desktop speakers on the market that are named after their square shape: the Sandberg USB Cube Speaker Set 2.0. The target group is people who have laptop computers and want better sound than the computer's built-in speakers can provide.
Martin Hollerup, Managing Director of Sandberg A/S, says: "Our target user group for the compact CUBE speakers consists of people who use their laptop at home or at work. They might be using it on a desktop or even in the kitchen or on a coffee table in the living room. They are people who want to hear good sound from their computer, but who do not want huge advanced speaker systems that can fill the whole house with sound."
CUBE speakers are a compromise between compact size and good quality sound. This requires a built-in amplifier, which in turn needs electricity in order to operate. As it is not always easy to find a power socket everywhere you might be sitting, lying or standing with your laptop, Sandberg has found an elegant solution in the form of power supply to the computer’s USB connector.
"So you can even take them with you on holiday," says an enthusiastic MD, "without having to worry about whether your speakers are compatible with the plug sockets in a foreign country. It’s already a pain trying to find adaptors for all the other things.."
A smart finish, beautiful lacquer, silver-coloured flat speaker units and a stylish feature with a discreet blue LED in the transparent bases are the kind of thing that makes you glad to have your CUBEs out on display. There is also a volume control and a headphone socket.
"It's all about design, quality and good sound – it's not about being loud," says the MD about Sandberg's priorities when developing the new stereo set.
The Sandberg USB Cube Speaker Set is already on its way to stores now. You can find your nearest one at
