The compromise that will give Sandberg market share
Sandberg would love to take a larger slice of the market for computer mice. It is a market with strong competition and some very dominant brands.
According to Sales Director Erling Hoff Petersen, there is only one way to increase market share: "The answer is quite simple: we have to deliver a better product at a much lower price. We simply have to compromise on the price in order to get a foot in the door. Consumers will really feel that they are getting value for money when they choose Sandberg."
This announcement comes as the company launches two new laser mice. Both mice are elegantly designed and equipped with the latest laser technology, which works on practically any surface. They are wireless and connect to the computer via an impressive little receiver, which is inserted into the USB connector. The mouse and the receiver are paired at the factory, so you can just plug and play. Even if there are hundreds of the same mouse in the same building, there will be no interference between them.
The larger of the mice is equipped with a number of extra buttons: the DPI button toggles priority between precision and speed, while two side buttons make it easy to navigate forwards and backwards through Web pages. The small mouse has slightly fewer functions but its size makes it perfect for children's hands and for those who want to have the entire office in one bag. When it comes to quality, there is no doubt that Sandberg has really strived to create products that you are always pleased you bought. This is also underlined by a five-year warranty.
The Sales Director continues: "The thing that may be difficult for us is brand acceptance. There are a few very well-known mouse brands that can market practically anything they like and automatically have consumer confidence in their products. Just because of the name. The problem for Sandberg is that we are not as well-known for mice. We have to give customers more for their money in order to achieve better market penetration. But we risk customers thinking that there is something wrong with it if the price is so low. You could even be tempted to double the price, just to get customers to understand the level of quality we are providing – but then we risk being too expensive for them to choose."
The two new mice – the Wireless Laser Mouse Pro and the Wireless Mini Laser Mouse – are now on their way to the shops and are also available to purchase online. For more information go to www.sandberg.world.
