As great as it is to work with a wireless mouse, it is just as frustrating when it runs out of power. Either you have to wait hours for it to charge or you have to go out and get new batteries. Sandberg is introducing a very easy solution to the problem: A wireless mouse that lives off wireless power – completely without batteries.
It almost sounds like science fiction that a mouse can operate entirely without batteries and get power as it needs it – without a single cable in the mouse. But at the end of the day there is nothing ground-breaking about it. It is technology that we know from electric toothbrushes and induction hobs which has now found its way to the computer mouse.
There is actually nothing new about the computer mouse because for several years the new mouse from Sandberg had a simpler predecessor that functioned according to the same fundamental principle of placing an electric coil in the mouse pad and another coil in the bottom of the mouse that induces electricity.
The new Sandberg Wireless BatteryFree Mouse Pro has been given a much more attractive design and more functions. Now there are separate scroll wheels for vertical and horizontal scrolling and there are more buttons for double-clicking and navigating on the Internet. The mouse is also supplied with configuration software so that the function of the buttons can be changed.
Sandberg's Managing Director Martin Hollerup also emphasises the greenness of the product:
"Try to imagine how many batteries get used in computer mice. A mouse is one of the battery-powered devices that is used for most of the day, in all its forms. This creates a huge amount of waste, regardless of whether we are talking about disposable batteries or rechargeable batteries. It is completely understandable that you would want to get rid of the cables for something like a mouse where movement is crucial. But this has led to a significant impact on the environment since hundreds of millions of computer mice throughout the world have been replaced with wireless and thus battery-powered mice."
He continues:
"This is where our wireless power technology enters the picture. We avoid batteries completely. For every wireless mouse in the world that is replaced by one of our batteryfree versions we reduce the environmental impact. I feel good about that."
The new batteryfree mouse from Sandberg is a great new friend. It doesn't need to be replaced immediately! It is very comfortable in the hand, easy to use and the additional features make day-to-day tasks even easier. It has come to stay!
