Sandberg connects mobile and hi-fi

The Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link is a new type of connection which makes it possible to play music from a mobile phone via an amplifier. It’s completely wireless so you can still carry your mobile in your pocket and use it to control the playback.

If you have a set of PC speakers, a surround sound system or an old stereo system from the 1980s lying around, you can turn it into a wireless docking station for your mobile phone. You can also breathe new life into your ghetto blaster. The Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link can be used in the car too.

There are many possibilities. But how does it work?

Quite simply, it works by converting the wireless Bluetooth audio signal into an ordinary analogue audio signal which can be connected to the input of an amplifier. This nifty little device from Sandberg fits the adapter set provided for all usual standards, covering anything from your car’s small AUX input to the double phono inputs of older hi-fi systems (RCA).

The product is charged like a mobile phone using a USB cable and when fully charged has enough power for 12 hours of operating time or 200 hours on standby. The device will also work in a power socket or car cigarette lighter if used with an adapter. These charging adapters are not included in the price but can be purchased separately.

Martin Hollerup, Managing Director of Sandberg A/S, has this to say about the most fun part of the development phase: “I have been personally involved in the testing phase of this product and it has really been great fun. I dug out my dusty old stereo system and boxy loudspeakers, put the Bluetooth Link into the TAPE IN – the input which was once used for a cassette player –and hey presto, the music on my iPod filled the living room with amazing quality. Another good thing about it is that you can keep your mobile in your pocket. It’s like walking around with a remote control. Pretty cool.”

And there are countless possibilities. Music for parties in the garden – just get a pair of decent PC speakers with a subwoofer, create a playlist on your mobile and the job is done. Or let your guests take it in turns to play their own music by linking their own mobiles.

The Sandberg Bluetooth Audio Link is already on its way into stores and can be purchased online. For more information see www.sandberg.world
