Press release:
Sandberg is now launching a backup battery that has built-in solar cells.
In essence, it is a similar product to the other
Sandberg Powerbar and Sandberg Powerbank products: a powerful stand-alone reserve battery charging from a USB port on either a computer or 230V / car adapter, which can provide power to most portable devices via a USB port.
What is new is that powerful solar panels have been installed on the back of the battery, so all you need to recharge it is light. So it can be recharged anywhere - even in electric light, if you are sitting on a plane or at a train station, where there are no mains sockets.
Anders Petersen, Product Manager at Sandberg A/S, says:
"We have had great success with our other backup batteries. However, there is also a need for an even greater range Everything is possible: festival goers, sailors, scouts, hikers, hunters - yes, all sorts of people who need to have power for their mobile devices, anytime and anywhere. Just think of how much a festival goer uses text messaging, Twitter, Facebook and everything else. That really drains the batteries."
The Product Manager goes on to comment on the environmental benefits:
"I have to admit that the environmental benefits of charging with solar energy instead of mains power were not the primary factor for us. User comfort takes the highest priority. But yes: the product is obviously also a bonus for the environment. When you're at home you can always have the Solar PowerBank lying on the windowsill during the day and charge the phone up at night. Free of charge and zero pollution."
Sandberg Solar Power Bank is coming out in stores now, and can also be purchased online.
