Aggressive pricing of the NightVision camera

Sandberg is having great success with the Sandberg NightCam 2 – a webcam which can not only film and take photos even in the dark, but also comes in an unusually attractive metal case and has a real glass, not plastic, lens. Now the NightCam 2 has a hard-hitting sales pitch in a tough market: An extraordinarily low price.
The new price of the NightCam 2 is on a par with unbranded cameras lacking any special features. This is why Sandberg expects the market to react very positively.
Erling Hoff Petersen, Director of Sales and Marketing, says: "We see the market for webcams as being on the one hand two or three very strong brands priced accordingly, and on the other masses of very cheap webcams that leave you feeling rather unsure exactly what it is you're taking home. With this top quality brand product that comes with a five-year warranty and some good features at a very low price, we hope to build a bridge between the two extremes of the webcam market. In other words, we want to serve the area that most people go for: A good and safe buy at a competitive price. And now we can do that with the NightCam 2, because the development costs have been written off."
After being on the market for more than a year now, the NightCam 2 is no spring chicken, but it is still competing strongly with the most recently launched products. Erling Hoff Petersen continues: "The NightCam 2 is lagging a bit behind the race leaders in terms of the hunt for the biggest number of megapixels. 1.3 megapixels is plenty of resolution for use on the Internet. A glass lens is more important than the number of megapixels when it comes to Internet use. A good lens gives better pictures on smaller bandwidths. High resolutions, i.e. very high megapixels, just lead to slower transfers and stuttering video."
